I'm losing my mentors little by little but I cried so easy when I heard Merle had passed. I've loved this man like I love my father, he raised me on country and mom with Elvis. Love and respects to Theresa and the entire Haggard Family. You definitely are going to leave a huge hole in country music Hag. I am proud that people like Alan Jackson, Randy Travis, Vince Gill, Patty Loveless, Garth Brooks have kept their songs country and they all have mentioned what a huge influence Merle was in shaping their careers. His songs were his stories and their are just not artists around that still do that, except Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton. I wouldn't be able to even list what my favorite Top 10 songs of Merle's would be because it would be extremely difficult to do. Words can't describe the impact that he made on me in terms of my interest in music, but in all forms of music in general. I grew up listening to him from the time I was a small child (I am 47 now). I am firm foundation Christian, and Merle' music played such a humongous part of my life. And Thank you Haggard families for allowing us to enjoy Merle time and time again ! I am sure our enjoyment caused you all pain and I thank you for your sacrifices you made for us, his fans ! RIP Hag !

X & Mac deserve better than this.I do not have childhood memory in music that does not involve you !!! The AMC's jumping up and down when you won to seeing you 6 times as a child and then surprising my Dad in my adult years (I know many have claimed this title, but my dad wins it hands down) to the last show we seen you at was Wayne co fair, my Dad is 82 and you also passed on my parents 59th wedding anniversary, my (16) when I said you had passed he said do we need to go comfort pap ? I said its Bubba and Paps anniversary, but he may need a little comfort ! When I walked in he said Hon, you heard the Hag died today ? I said yep, I did, he said its a sad sad day hon, a true artist has died. But, this whole thing surrounding him acknowledging X's is bad enough but pointing out when he acknowledges another death trivializes both. Not an attack on you at all, as I know this isn't your intention. Or when he offered condolences to the Las Vegas shooting victims, ".but what about Manchester"? In each case, just like this, the tragedy, itself, seems to take a backseat to how "we" want him to acknowledge it. It's when he acknowledged Robin Williams' passing, people brought up Dick Gregory's (which he didn't acknowledge). No disrespect but it hurts me to know that, even in death, it still manages to be about what "we" want. It comes off as minimizing death as nothing more than a talking point and when it comes to celebrities, seems to only be validated by an outpouring of condolences that leaves open the question of if it's genuine or not.
